Information Collection and Use
Information Collected Upon Registration
When You create a Channels/InstaVoice account, You provide certain personal information, including Your name, phone number/email address and password (“Personal Information”). Some of this information, for example, Your name is listed publicly on our Services, including on Your profile page and in search results. However all of these Services, such as search and viewing of public user profiles require registration. Your user information will be uploaded to https://channels.instavoice.
Single Sign-On InstaVoice/Channels
A caveat here is that if You are signed-up/registered with InstaVoice via Your phone number, then the same credentials hold good for your Channels account (channels.instavoice.com) on the Web as well. This way, users can connect seamlessly and securely to both the Services on the cloud. Similarly, Your Channels authorization credentials (via Phone number) hold good for InstaVoice. The same information is shared across both the Services on the cloud at the back-end. Single sign-on, on one hand, simplifies access for end users while on the other, reduces the management overhead associated with password reset.
You may provide us with additional Personal Information to make public, such as a short description, your locations, a picture of Yourself or even a link to Your personal website/blog. When You create a Channels Account, some Personal Information about Your Account and Your account activity will be provided to other users of the Service. This may include Your age (if You choose to make it public), the state and country of residence, the number of users following You and vice versa. You may provide Personal Information to customize Your account, such as an email ID/phone number for the delivery of email/SMS notifications. We may use Your Personal Information to send You information about our Services (for eg., notifying You of major Channels/InstaVoice Service changes or for customer service purposes) or to market to You. You could decide to use Your account settings to unsubscribe from notifications from Channels. We may use Your contact information to help others find your Channels/InstaVoice account, including through third-party services and client applications. We may use the information You provide us to also enable our missed call, voicemail notifications and caller ID functionality. Your privacy settings control whether others can find You by Your email address or cell phone number. As an InstaVoice Application user, You may choose to upload Your address book so that we can help You find InstaVoice users You know. We may later make suggestions to You and other users on Channels/InstaVoice based on imported address book contacts. You can delete your imported address book contacts from Channels/InstaVoice at any time. If You email us, we may keep certain Personal Information such as Your message, email address and contact information to respond to Your request. If You connect Your Channels/InstaVoice account to Your account on another service in order to cross-post between Channels/InstaVoice and that service, the other service may send us Your registration or profile information on that service and other information that You authorize. This information enables cross-posting, helps us improve the Services, and is deleted from Channels/InstaVoice within a few weeks of your disconnecting from Channels/InstaVoice your account on the other service. Providing the additional information described in this section is entirely optional. However, this information would enable us to provide You with more relevant and better services.
Channels (Voice blogposts), Following, Groups and other Public Information
Our Services are primarily designed to help You share information with the world or at least to users from Your country/territory. Most of the messages that You blog for communicating with Your friends, family and close groups, are intended to be held private. By this, only those users who will follow You, will be able to view the messages You posted. However, users who do not follow You, will not be able to view any of Your messages.
For campaign related Channels, that You post to participate in a brand contest, or vote for a screen star/celebrity, the intention is to make the information public by posting it to the user’s Facebook wall as well as the brand’s Facebook page.
Our encouragement is always to make the information You provide to reach out to as many users as possible and hence make it public, but we also give You settings to make the information more private if You want. Your public information is broadly and instantly disseminated. For instance, Your public user profile information and public blog posts may be searchable by search engines. Hence, when You share information or content like voice content or links to photos and videos via the Services, please consider and evaluate carefully what information You intend making public.
If You keep Your profile as 'Private', other Channels users will not be able to see Your Sent Channels, Followers and Following Channels. Only some basic Personal Information will be available for public viewing. If Your profile is public, anybody would be able to follow You. In case it is private, You will receive a special notification (email/SMS) to approve the follow request. You can make Your profile Private from the Account Settings tab. By default, it is public.
If You want to prevent a specific follower to view Your posts (even after retaining Your profile as type public), You can ‘block’ that person and remove him from Your connection list. You also have the capability to ‘unblock’ him as and when desired.
"Personal Information" includes information that alone or when in combination with other information may be used to readily identify, contact, or locate You.
We may record information about Your usage, such as when You use the Service, the contacts You communicate with, the Channels Services You create or listen to, and the frequency and size of data transfers, as well as information You display or access using the Service. If You are logged in, we may associate that information with Your account.
Any Personal Information or audio content that You voluntarily disclose on our site could become publicly available depending on your account preferences (in case you have a ‘Public’ profile) and could be collected and used by others. So You should be careful while sharing such information.
Location Information: You may choose to publish Your location in Your voice messages or blog spots and in Your InstaVoice/Channels profile. You may also tell us Your location when You set your location on www.instavoice.com / www.channels.instavoice.com or Your computer or mobile device sends us location information. We may also use other data from Your device to determine location; for example, information about wireless networks or cell towers near Your mobile device, or Your IP address. We may use and store information about Your location to provide features of our Services, such as sending voice messages with Your location, and to improve and customize the Services.
If You submit Personal Information to us, we may use that information to operate, maintain, and improve the functioning of the Services.
Subject to applicable laws, we may use your Personal Information for the purpose of sending You messages (whether by email, SMS or other means) marketing, offering, promoting or advertising (i) our goods and services and the goods and services of our affiliates and partners, including social media, entertainment, on-line advertising services(including in-app advertisements or display advertisements on the internet), e-commerce, information and communications software and services; and (ii) third party providers of the above services and other goods and services that we think may be relevant to You. Services require You to enter Speech Data in order to use and derive the benefits of Services. The Services collect and process the Speech Data You input into our products. We or third parties acting under our direction, pursuant to confidentiality agreements, may use the Speech Data to develop, tune, enhance, and improve our services. We will not use the contents of any Speech Data provided to us through your use of Services for any purpose except as set forth above. "Speech Data" means the audio files, associated text and transcriptions and log files provided by You hereunder or generated in connection with our products. Speech Data may include Personal Information.
We engage certain trusted third parties and affiliates to perform functions and provide services to us, including, without limitation, hosting and maintenance, customer relationship, database storage and management, and direct marketing campaigns. We will share your personally identifiable information with these third parties, and affiliates, but only to the extent necessary to perform these functions and provide such services, and only pursuant to binding contractual obligations requiring such third parties to maintain the privacy and security of your data.
Information Sharing and Disclosure

Non-Private or Non-Personal Information
We may share or disclose Your non-private, aggregated or otherwise non-personal information, such as Your public user profile information, public voice SMS or blog spots, or the number of users who clicked on a particular link (even if only one did).
Modifying Your Personal Information
If You are a registered user of our Services, we provide You with tools and account settings to access or modify the Personal Information You provided to us and associated with Your account.
You can also permanently delete your InstaVoice/Channels account. When Your account is deactivated, it is not viewable on www.instavoice.com or channels.instavoice.com. For up to 30 days after deactivation it is still possible to restore your account if it was accidentally or wrongfully deactivated. After 30 days, we begin the process of deleting Your account from our systems, which can take up to a week.
We are very concerned about safeguarding the confidentiality of Your personally identifiable information. We employ administrative, physical and electronic measures designed to protect Your information from unauthorized access.
We will make any legally-required disclosures of any breach of the security, confidentiality, or integrity of Your unencrypted electronically stored Personal Information to You via email or conspicuous posting on this Site in the most expedient time possible and without unreasonable delay, consistent with (i) the legitimate needs of law enforcement or (ii) any measures necessary to determine the scope of the breach and restore the reasonable integrity of the data system.

Our Policy towards Children
Children under Age 13
We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from anyone under the age of 13 or knowingly allow such persons to register. If you are under 13, please do not attempt to register for the Service or send any information about Yourself to us, including Your name, address, telephone number, or email address. No one under age 13 may provide any personal information for accessing the Service.
